How do I adjust Color on my video in Kamua?

☕️ TL;DR – Kamua has powerful color and lighting adjustment tools directly in your web browser. You can change hue, brightness, contrast and saturation with a few clicks.

In this article you will learn how to:

  1. Change the Hue of video colors
  2. Modify the Brightness of the image
  3. Adjust the Contrast
  4. Increase or Decrease Saturation

To begin with, we are offering a series of easy-to-use sliders that allow you to adjust color parameters just like you would in a photo app. In the future we will have presets and more advanced options.

It is not yet possible to copy and paste Clip Settings onto other Clips, so you will need to adjust the Color Settings for each individual Clip.

To Access the Color Settings:

  1. Open Clip Settings
  2. Choose the Clip Options tab

1. Change the Hue of Video Colors

In Kamua, the Hue of a color is the degree to which the dominant color (Red, Green, Blue or Yellow) is emphasized using a particular setting. When you move the Hue Slider you will increase or decrease the emphasis on that particular color, relevant to other colors in the spectrum. This can create some interesting and artistic visual effects, like you see with photos on Instagram.

  • In the Clip Options tab, adjust the Hue slider left or right to achieve the desired effect for that Clip.
  • Double-clicking the slider handle will reset to the original values for that Clip

2. Modify the Brightness of an Image

In Kamua, you can make a Clip appear to have more light and/or be reflecting light by increasing the Brightness. Similarly, you can decrease the Brightness to make an image more dark. This can be particularly effective for black and white film effects, for creating moods and visual effects. like overexposure.

  • In the Clip Options tab, adjust the Brightness slider left or right to achieve the desired effect for that Clip.
  • Double-clicking the slider handle will reset to the original values for that Clip

3. Adjust the Contrast

In Kamua, adjusting the Contrast will make certain objects and colors stand out more, or become obscured, depending on the type of image. Higher contrast can make some colors appear more vibrant and shadows appear darker, and lower contrast can make very bright colored images seem less bright and add a greying effect. In both cases, other parts of the picture can be revealed or obscured using contrast.

  • In the Clip Options tab, adjust the Contrast slider left or right to achieve the desired effect for that Clip.
  • Double-clicking the slider handle will reset to the original values for that Clip

4. Increase or Decrease Saturation

In Kamua, Saturation is the intensity of the colors relative to the brightness of the image. So, in general, the more Saturation you add, the more intense the colors are going to appear. We also allow you to have negative Saturation, which is not the same as a negative image (like a photo negative), so you can create some interesting and unusual visual palettes this way.

  • In the Clip Options tab, adjust the Saturation slider left or right to achieve the desired effect for that Clip.
  • Double-clicking the slider handle will reset to the original values for that Clip
